About:

Clara McBride Hale. Clara McBride Hale was widowed at twenty-seven. Needing to support and care for her two children, she began providing day care for neighborhood children, charging two dollars a week. After becoming a licensed foster parent she took care of more than forty foster children during the next twenty-five years, and earned the affectionate name "Mother Hale." When Mrs. Hale took in a baby and mother who was addicted to drugs, word spread and she was soon caring for twenty-two babies in her five-room apartment. This marked the birth of Hale House. A few years later, she was able to procure a brownstone in Harlem, known as Hale House. Mother Hale believed that all children, from all walks of life and circumstances need and deserve love.

Ye have been calledunto liberty, only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
